OPERA’S 2026/2027 SEASON
The Royal Opera’s 2026/27 Season
ignites with Kasper Holten’s production
of Mozart’s dark opera Don Giovanni,
running on the Main Stage
10 September – 15 October. This
opening production sets the tone for the
season ahead: world-class talent,
thrilling artistic experiences, rising stars,
and storytelling of remarkable depth and
power.

in former Jette Parker Artist Akhmetshina
returning to the House in the
programme's 25th anniversary year, and
in the cast’s three debuts: Lydia Katarina,
Georgia Mae Ellis and Dingle Yandell.

NEW CAST FOR RSC’S MATILDA
The Royal Shakespeare Company’s
West End production of Matilda The
Musical is now in its 15th year in
London, making it the 10th longest
running musical in West End history.
Matilda The Musical continues to play to
packed houses with a new cast. Now
seen by 13 million people in over 100
cities worldwide, the show is also
currently on a major UK and Ireland tour
which opened at Leicester Curve in
October 2025 and tours through until
January 2027. A tonic for audiences of
all ages, this anarchic production about
a strong and determined heroine with a
vivid imagination has now won 101
international awards including 25 for
Best Musical.
WINDSOR CASTLE’S NEW VENUS
GARDEN OPENS
Visitors have the first opportunity to
explore the newly redesigned Venus
Garden at Windsor Castle, as the
historic space opens to the public for the
summer.
Formerly known as the East Terrace
Garden and only occasionally open to
the public in recent decades, the Venus
Garden has been transformed according
to His Majesty The King's vision,
drawing inspiration from the petal-like
pattern created by the orbit of Venus.
The redesign combines formal
planting, wildflower meadows, sculpted
yew hedging and historic sculptures
from the Royal Collection, while a
dramatic new treescape including
ornamental pear trees, dogwood and
crab apple creates a renewed sense of
scale and spectacle across the garden.
Designed to provide year-round
interest, the new garden also creates a
bio-diverse haven for wildlife and
pollinators, reflecting His Majesty's
longstanding commitment to
sustainability.
Open until 13 September and
included in the price of a standard
Windsor Castle ticket, the Venus Garden
offers visitors a rare chance to spend
time in a historic outdoor space within
the walls of the world’s oldest and
largest occupied castle.
