HAYDN’S THE CREATION RETURNS
TO CADOGAN HALL
‘Haydn’s The Creation’ returns to
Cadogan Hall on 14 and 15 July in a
special celebration for Barts Choir,
marking the 30th anniversary of our
Musical Director, Ivor Setterfield’s
inspiring musicianship. Bringing
together the forces of Barts Choir and
Trafalgar Sinfonia, these performances
promise a fitting tribute to three decades
of musical excellence, ambition and
community.
Few choral masterpieces capture
wonder and joy as vividly as Haydn’s
The Creation. From the mysterious
opening depiction of chaos to the
blazing musical moment of ‘Let there be
light’, the work unfolds in a series of
glorious choruses, lyrical solos and
richly coloured orchestral writing.
Haydn’s genius shines through every
page, combining grandeur and
breathtaking musical imagination.
For Barts Choir, one of London’s
largest and most dynamic choral
societies, these concerts are especially
significant. Under the guidance of Ivor
Setterfield for the past 30 years, the
choir has grown in stature, artistry and
reputation, performing major works with
professional orchestras and soloists at
many of the capital’s leading venues.
This anniversary provides an opportunity
not only to celebrate an extraordinary
musical partnership, but also to thank
the thousands of singers, supporters and
audience members who have been part
of the choir’s journey.
Whether you are a long-standing
supporter of Barts Choir or discovering
them for the first time, it will be an
uplifting and unforgettable evening.
Experience the power of large chorus,
the brilliance of
Trafalgar Sinfonia,
highly talented soloists
and one of the greatest
choral works ever
written, performed in the
superb surroundings of
Cadogan Hall. Together,
celebrate 30 remarkable
years of musical
leadership with a work
that continues to inspire
audiences more than
two centuries after its
premiere.
