The Chapel Choir of the Royal
Hospital Chelsea returns to Cadogan
Hall for its popular Easter concert on
1 April (19.00).
Haydn's Stabat Mater is a moving
portrayal of the suffering of Mary at the
foot of the cross and is among the
earliest of his large-scale vocal works,
using groundbreaking harmonic
language and extreme chromaticism to
heighten the drama and depictions of
pain and anguish. Mozart’s Requiem is
one of the most celebrated and
monumental of all choral works, written
at the very end of his tragically short life,
and will be sung in its standard

completion by his
pupil, Franz Xaver
Süssmayr. All solos
will be sung by
members of the
Royal Hospital’s
critically acclaimed
Chapel Choir.
William Vann,
Director of Music at
the Royal Hospital,
directs the choir
alongside the
London Mozart
Players, the oldest,
freshest and most adventurous chamber
orchestra in the UK. The Observer
