Welcome to London
Traditionally in June, The Sovereign’s birthday is officially celebrated
by the ceremony of Trooping the Colour (The King’s Birthday Parade).
In 2026, this impressive display of pageantry will take place on
Saturday 13 June at Horse Guard’s Parade, with His Majesty The King
attending and taking the salute.
Trooping of the Colour has marked the official birthday of the British
Sovereign for over 260 years. Over 1,400 parading soldiers, 200 horses
and 400 musicians will come together in a great display of military
precision, horsemanship and fanfare, as the parade moves from
Buckingham Palace, down The Mall to Horse Guard’s Parade, along with
Members of the Royal Family on horseback and in carriages. The display
closes with an RAF fly-past, watched by Members of the Royal Family from
Buckingham Palace balcony.
Another summer highlight will take place from 16 to 20 June, as thrill
seekers and racegoers indulge in a week of celebration at Royal Ascot.
Steeped in history, the illustrious event sets the stage for world-class horse
racing in all its joy, as thoroughbreds thunder towards glory in the tranquil
surroundings of the English countryside.
A week later, the 2026 Henley Royal Regatta will take place over six days
from 30 June to 5 July. One of the highlights of the English sporting and
social calendars, Henley Regatta provides 6 days of top-class sporting
action alongside the finest hospitality on the banks of the River Thames.
And, at the end of the month, the Pride in London Parade takes place on
Saturday 4 July, running from Hyde Park Corner, through Piccadilly Circus,
down Haymarket and along Pall Mall to Trafalgar Square, culminating at
Whitehall Place, with food stalls and souvenirs along the way supporting
LGBTQI+ charities.
