RUN LONDON
If you are visiting London and want to
explore the city on foot, running is one
of the best ways to do it. The city has
routes for every kind of runner, from
quiet park loops to long riverside
stretches that pass some of the capital’s
most famous landmarks.
A classic route starts along the South
Bank of the Thames. Beginning near
Westminster Bridge, you can run east
past the London Eye, the Tate Modern
and Shakespeare’s Globe before
reaching Tower Bridge. The path is
mostly flat, easy to follow and full of
views across the river. Early mornings
are best if you want space before tourists
arrive.
For something greener, Hyde Park
and Kensington Gardens offer wide
paths and relaxed loops. You can circle
the Serpentine lake, continue through
Green Park and even reach Buckingham
Palace without dealing with much traffic.
It is an ideal route for an easy morning
run.
North London has a different
atmosphere altogether. Regent's Canal
provides a quieter route that passes
narrowboats, warehouses converted into
cafés and stretches of peaceful water.
Starting near Little Venice and heading
east towards Camden gives you a mix of
calm canal paths and busy market
streets.
If you want a longer run, head to
Hampstead Heath. The hills there offer
some of the best skyline views in the
city, especially from Parliament Hill. It
feels far removed from central London
despite being only a short Tube ride
away.
Every part of London offers a different
running experience, and each route
reveals another side of the city beyond
the usual tourist stops.
