FAULTY TOWERS THE DINING
EXPERIENCE
Faulty Towers The Dining Experience
celebrated 50 years of the iconic sitcom
with a glittering celebrity gala at the
President Hotel. Stars, fans and industry
friends joined Basil, Sybil and Manuel
for a night of chaos, comedy and a 70sstyle three-course meal in honour of
Britain’s most iconic sitcom.
The London gala was one of eight
simultaneous performances staged
across the UK and Australia to mark the
exact 50th anniversary of the first
episode of Fawlty Towers airing on 19
September 1975. From Brisbane and
Sydney to Colchester, Newark and
Torquay itself, audiences across two
continents celebrated the sitcom’s
golden milestone in style.
Following the sold-out celebration,
producers are to extend the sale of
tickets for the hit immersive comedy
dining show until 20 December 2026 –
extending the show’s record-breaking
London run. In addition, a brand-new
Thursday matinee performance will join
the weekly schedule, giving even more
audiences the chance to enjoy the
mayhem.
Written by John Cleese and Connie
Booth, the series about the
quintessential irascible Torquay hotelier
ran for just 12 episodes but became one
of the most acclaimed and influential
British comedies of all time. Its enduring
popularity has made it a cornerstone of
UK television history.
Devised by Alison Pollard-Mansergh,
Andrew Foreman and others, Faulty
Towers The Dining Experience has
appeared in 43 countries and welcomed
over a million guests since 2008. A
loving tribute to the BBC’s legendary
sitcom, the show is 70% improvised,
totally immersive – and continues to be
one of London’s longest-running
comedy hits.
