WILDLIFE ARTIST OF THE YEAR:
ART WITH A MESSAGE THAT ROARS
Now in its 17th year, Wildlife Artist of
the Year (WAY) is the world’s premier
wildlife art competition – a breathtaking
celebration of talent and purpose that
has raised over £1 million for global
conservation since 2008. Nearly 18,000
artists have taken part, from emerging
talents to international names.
WAY returns to London’s Mall
Galleries from 9 to 13 September, to
showcase 150 curated works that
capture the beauty, fragility, and fury of
the natural world. For artists, collectors,
and wildlife lovers alike, it’s a cultural
flashpoint – where reputations are
forged, champions crowned, and
bidding wars ignite.
This year also sees the launch of the
WAY Luminaries, a group of cultural
tastemakers and influencers
championing their chosen works to
audiences worldwide. A major new
feature is The Collaborative Canvas,
London’s largest-ever evolving wildlife
artwork. Every visitor – children,
parents, beginners and WAY alumni –
will be invited to add a brushstroke to
this growing piece throughout the week.
One canvas. Thousands of voices.
One shared message: this is worth
fighting for.
Throughout exhibition week, the public
can take part in immersive, hands-on
workshops led by former finalists and
celebrated artists. This includes nationally
recognised artists, bringing their expertise
from across the country to champion
David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’s
cause and the conservation work WAY
funds. From technique sessions to
storytelling in paint, attendees of all ages
will leave equipped to turn their creativity
into action.
Georgina Lamb, CEO, DSWF: 'This is
the story of a grandfather’s vision, a
family’s legacy, and a Foundation
refusing to back down. One brushstroke
at a time, we’re writing the next chapter
of conservation. And we need the world
to read it.'
