THE HORRIBLE HISTORIES:
TERRIBLE THAMES
The Horrible Histories: Terrible Thames
boat tour returns for its fifth spectacular
year in 2025, delivering a hilarious and
educational journey through the murky
and fascinating past of London’s River
Thames. Created by the Birmingham
Stage Company in partnership with
Woods Silver Fleet, this 45-minute
immersive experience departs from Tower
Bridge Quay and sails to the Palace of
Westminster and back, blending
interactive theatre with scenic sightseeing.
Passengers board the Silver Sockeye,
a luxury cruiser, for an engaging voyage
where historical characters and stories
spring to life with humour and theatrical
flair. Designed to entertain both children
and adults, the tour is packed with
gruesome tales, unexpected facts, and
catchy sea shanties that bring the river’s
legacy of treachery, tyranny, and triumph
vividly into focus.
The tour draws on the worldwide
success of Horrible Histories, the
bestselling children’s history book series
written by Terry Deary and illustrated by
Martin Brown. Since its launch over 30
years ago, the franchise has sold more
than 30 million copies, been translated
into 38 languages, and inspired TV
series, stage shows, a feature film, and
numerous heritage attractions.
