Welcome to London
It is a delight to welcome you to London, a city which has celebrated
science and innovation for centuries. As Director and Chief Executive of the
Science Museum Group I am thrilled to invite you to the Science Museum
to discover iconic objects and stories of human ingenuity. Where better to
explore these stories than in London, where rich history so visibly jostles
alongside modernity and innovation?
Visitors hungry to learn can explore Future of Food, our free exhibition
that explores how science is creating more sustainable ways of growing,
making and cooking food. Open from 24 July, the exhibition features
hands-on interactive exhibits and over 100 thought-provoking objects.
From growing meat in bioreactors on your kitchen counter to using
underwater farming to regenerate our seas, this exhibition draws from the
latest innovations in biotechnology and ecology to ask: what future do you
want for your plate and your planet?
Ahead of our new Space gallery opening this September, families can
enjoy exciting free activities and discover more about our solar system,
space travel and even how astronauts go to the toilet! The Space Show, our
free interactive family show, is packed with live experiments, while our
Space Trail, a collaboration with Disney & Pixar’s new film, Elio, takes
visitors on a journey around the museum to find remarkable space objects.
As a species, we've always looked to the stars. At the Science Museum,
we invite you to join us to discover more about science and the cosmos.
Sir Ian Blatchford
Director and Chief Executive, Science Museum Group
