PRESENT CLARKSTON
Joe Locke will make his West End
debut starring opposite Ruaridh Mollica
in the UK premiere of Clarkston by
critically acclaimed writer Samuel D.
Hunter, best known for Oscar-winning
and BAFTA nominated film The Whale.
This emotionally intimate American play
will be directed by award-winning
director Jack Serio, who won great
acclaim for his production of Uncle
Vanya performed in a New York loft and
recently directed the world premiere of
Samuel D. Hunter’s Grangeville.
On a journey West to rediscover
himself, Jake unexpectedly meets Chris
Olly Alexander
– a kindred soul hiding in a night shift
at a Costco in a rural American town. As
their bond deepens, so does their sense
of adventure. Maybe they could finally
give life new meaning by chasing
something more – like the intrepid
explorers Lewis and Clark before them.
Producers Oliver Roth & LD
Entertainment said: ‘We’re so looking
forward to introducing London audiences
to Samuel D. Hunter’s voice, which has
shaped New York’s downtown theatre scene
for over 15 years, and to Jack Serio’s
brilliant direction, which has quickly made
waves as he emerges as one of the city’s
most exciting new theatre makers.’

THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING
EARNEST TRANSFERS TO WEST END
The National Theatre’s sold-out,
critically acclaimed production of The
Importance of Being Earnest will transfer
to the West End this autumn in a
co-production with Sonia Friedman
Productions. This ‘bold and brash Wilde
reboot’ (The Times) will run for a limited
season at the Noël Coward Theatre from
18 September until 10 January.
This ‘sparkling new production’ (Daily
Mail) directed by Max Webster, is a joyful
and flamboyant reimagining of Oscar
Wilde’s most celebrated comedy.
Actor and singer-songwriter, Olly
Alexander will play the role of Algernon
Moncrieff.
Being sensible can be excessively
boring. At least Jack thinks so. While
assuming the role of dutiful guardian in
the country, he lets loose in town under a
false identity. Meanwhile, his friend Algy
takes on a similar facade. Unfortunately,
living a double life has its drawbacks,
especially when it comes to love. Hoping
to impress two eligible ladies, the
gentlemen find themselves caught in a
web of lies they must carefully navigate.
